 Frequently Asked Questions How long will it take for my account to be set up after I order? Elements, Personal, and Small Business accounts are generally set up within 2 hours of your order. Enterprise and Reseller accounts are more complex and can take up to 8 hours to set up. Does IHS oversell on their servers? IHS Web Solutions is focused on delivering extremely high-quality hosting for demanding customers. For this reason, we never oversell on our servers. In fact, we undersell. As a result, we may not offer "too good to be true" pricing, but we do deliver an unbeatable product. Many hosts oversell bandwidth and storage space, as well as processing power. We do not oversell bandwidth or storage space, and we keep the processor loads much lower on our servers than a typical web hosting company, especially the "cheap" ones. For these reasons, we are the choice of many bandwidth-intensive web hosting customers (streaming video/audio, script intensive sites, etc.). How much control will I have over my account? We provide all customers with cPanel access. cPanel allows you to manage email accounts, create, modify, and manage SQL databases, view stats, ban abusive IPs, install scripts using Fantastico, and MUCH more. Enterprise and Reseller accounts are fully featured meaning you can add optional Shell access, giving you complete control. I already own my domain name, can I host with IHS Web Solutions? Absolutely! Just go to your current domain registrar and point your nameservers to ns1.ihswebserve.net and ns2.ihswebserve.net. We’ll have your account set up, and the nameservers will resolve in 24-48 hours. None of your hosting packages have exactly what I need, do you create custom packages? At this time, we do not offer fully customized packages unless what you require is larger than our Enterprise hosting plan. Should you need an extemely large hosting plan, we will create one for you, and will provide you with a highly competitive rate. Before requesting a custom plan, you should check to see if an Enterprise plan plus Add-Ons would be sufficient for your needs. Enterprise and Reseller accounts are not limited on the number of upgrade features allowed. Can I upgrade features on my hosting plan? Of course. You can always add or enhance features on your hosting plan. Just go to our Add-Ons page for options and pricing, then send an email to support@ihswebsolutions.com and we’ll get your account upgraded immediately. Please note that Personal and Small Business plans needing more than 4 options upgraded probably need to be upgraded to the next highest hosting plan. You should contact us if you find yourself in that situation. Please note that Elements plans cannot be upgraded. What is a Reseller plan, and what options are available? A Reseller plan is designed to give extreme flexibility and fantastic cost benefits to web designers, businesses with multiple websites, and those wishing to start their own web hosting business. Resellers can add/delete/suspend/modify and create their own web accounts on demand, without going through IHS Web Solutions. Each Reseller gets a WebHost Manager (WHM) interface where they have complete control over package plans, stats, and account functions. If you’re a reseller, you can charge whatever you want for your hosting services, and you can even brand your cPanels with your own company identity. We provide backup support for your customers if they have problems you can’t answer, and we take care of the servers, software, and security so you can focus on your business instead of trying to learn Linux. I want to sell things on my website, what should I do? You should have a plan before you get too far down the road! It’s insanely difficult to retrofit an existing site for e-commerce. Designers rarely put thought into how the site might need to be used in the future, so do yourself a favor – decide what you’re going to do before you start! If you’re looking for simplicity and cost-effectiveness, Paypal offers excellent business tools for small businesses, like "Buy Now" and "Add To Cart" buttons, as well as customizable carts. All you pay is a percentage of actual payments received through Paypal. The more "sexy" way to do e-commerce is with an application like osCommerce. You can install this program through Fantastico in cPanel, howerver we strongly suggest you read up before attempting an implementation. Of course, you can always hire IHS Web Solutions to do your site from the ground up! If I forget to pay my bill, what will happen to my website? It depends on how badly you forgot. There is a 30 day grace period after the bill’s due date. This ensures you have plenty of time to notice you forgot and send your payment. After that grace period your site will be suspended. When an account is suspended, a message will be displayed at your URL telling you to contact billing immediately. Once your site is suspended, you have 60 days to catch up in your payments. After 60 days of suspension, your website and hosting account will be permanently deleted from our servers and cannot be recovered. Please note that legacy accounts are subject to different suspension rules. I’m having trouble with my WordPress blog, can you help me? IHS Web Solutions is committed to keeping you up and running. We will support certain WordPress issues; installation/upgrade, installing plugins and themes, database problems, etc. However, we cannot help with specific problems with using WordPress. If you need help using WordPress or you find a glitch with WordPress, you should visit http://wordpress.org. I want to use a forum on my website, what should I do? We suggest using phpBB as your forum application. phpBB is the most widely used PHP-based open source forum, and many of our customers use it. You can install phpBB with just a few clicks by going to your cPanel and clicking the "Fantastico" link. Click phpBB and follow the directions. IHS Web Solutions supports installation/upgrade issues, however we do not assist with design/themes or setup of the forum itself. You can get information on themes, setup, etc. at http://phpbb.org.
